Larry Hauptman, BSE, MBA

Mr. Hauptman has successfully consulted in a variety of business turnaround and development situations for more than ten years. He has operated businesses as well as contributed financial, strategic, marketing and systems expertise. His strong analytical and problem solving skills enable him to quickly identify what is needed and produce results employing a "hands-on" style. His experience includes accounting, strategic planning, computer systems, marketing, raising capital, bank and creditor relations and CFO, CEO level responsibilities in the following industries:

Specific experience includes:

  • Turned around a $5,000,000 loss into a $500,000 profit and a $2,000,000 loss into a $300,000 profit, each in one year. Refocused the companies and contained costs; sold and discontinued unprofitable operations, reorganized to bring costs into line and restructured financing.
  • Restructured a $30 million parts supplier, returning it to profitability in five months after several consecutive years of losses. Guided the company in establishing an outside board of directors, replacing top management, developing a business plan and divesting unprofitable subsidiaries.
  • Focused business strategies and lead management teams, separately, as an Outside Director, CEO and CFO.
  • Set up financial controls, prepared projections for established and start-up businesses. Automated critical business controls. Provided the information needed to manage the business.
  • Restored bank and creditor confidence, secured alternative financing. Worked out creditor disputes.
  • Negotiated merger between similar businesses to attain economies of scale. Negotiated sale of minority interest to obtain financing and marketing synergy.
  • Appointed as Financial Consultant in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Positioned commodity products to command premium margins. Supported development of marketing campaign and collateral materials.

In addition to consulting, Mr Hauptman was President of an Ann Arbor developer of data base management software and manager of the On-line Database business unit for Automatic Data Processing.

Mr. Hauptman holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA with distinction from Northwestern University.


Charles Harris, BS, MS

Mr. Harris has improved manufacturing operations for over 30 years. Accomplishments include attaining a consistent 98% uptime and 99% on machining transfer lines. He has managed engineering, maintenance, service and production operations at a departmental, group and area level in large plants. He has represented management in local union negotiations and has managed joint union-management operations attaining highly competitive and efficient results. He developed a skunkworks project that rebuilt production equipment and supported operations with manufacturing cutting tools and specialty gears. He has two patents, one with GM for cutting oil and another with Toyota for fluid processing equipment.

He has demonstrated that he can develop high performing operations in both a union and non union environment. His experience includes chemical management, experimental design (DOE), operations, engineering, service, labor relations and contract management. He has consulted in both assembly and manufacturing environments. He has worked in the following industries:

Specific experience includes:

  • Investigated a chemical supplier and recovered over 3 million dollars in inappropriate charges.
  • 25% reduction in sediment in as shipped transmissions for two transmission plants.
  • Improved vehicle assembly throughput by 8% through improved maintenance procedures and equipment design.
  • Started up and managed a machine rebuild facility that was one of the first to develop reconfigurable equipment.
  • Significantly reduced warranty costs due to sediment.
  • Established a plant wide injury reduction program transforming the record to the best.
  • Secured capital appropriations in excess of $15 million dollars for redesigned plant equipment.
  • Lead the development of a cutting oil that improved cutting tool life by 80%.
  • Implemented a lubrication management program that was judged best in company by two large automotive OEMs.
  • Developed equipment that extended washer bath life from 2 weeks to 6 months.
  • Reduced maintenance lubricant, coolant and fluid costs by $2 million per year for over three years.

Donald M. Vuchetich

Mr. Vuchetich has demonstrated strong executive management development as a business consultant in a range of industries. He has also been engaged in public policy and public- private partnerships both nationally and internationally. The range of experience includes company restructuring, financing and transactions to increase shareholder value.

His career spans 35 years of marketing, operations, financial and product development at the senior management and CEO levels and direct consulting that included working with Fortune 500 companies in implementing computer-integrated manufacturing solutions. He has also held various marketing positions in manufacturing and computer companies in North America and has a background in working in Asia and Europe. He has worked with the following industries and disciplines:

Specific experience includes:

  • Brought in as CEO of the Detroit and Canada Tunnel Corporation to restructured and restore it to profitability.
  • Directed a multi-year $80 million infrastructure renovation program.
  • Negotiated long-term operating agreements with the cites of Windsor and Detroit as well as US and Canadian Federal governments.
  • Took the company private and later assisted with the subsequent sale of the company, returning a significant gain for the shareholders.
  • Restructured a $20 million private warehousing and trucking firm to return to profitability. Serving as interim CEO built a new management team, negotiated multiyear contracts with the company’s largest customer and labor union. Implemented new company governance policies with an outside board of directors.
  • Worked with number large and medium size product and services companies to audit and recommend actions for product and market fits to put on a plan for profitable success.
  • Developed company business plans for capital funding for product development and company operations.
